Artisan Bar & Kitchen is the latest venue to shake up the Ryde social scene offering a new relaxed yet elegant bar and dining experience. Situated at the heart of Union Street, it is the brainchild of the creative team behind the Inns of Distinction group.
Based within the site previously graced by Joe Daflos and under new ownership & management, over 3000 man hours over 3 weeks have been sweated in the stunning refurbishment to turn the space which includes a fabulously decadent gin and cocktail lounge, into the refined rustic interior space you see today.
Inside you will find an elegant interior boasting stylish reclaimed materials – wood salvaged from Ryde pier, doors from a now demolished Seaview chemist, floorboards saved from other period properties on the Island.
Living to the name, they’re proud to bring you quality food – sharing platters, small plates and authentic Italian dishes cooked from scratch using the best produce that the Isle of Wight offers. They also have their own artisan baker producing fantastic cakes, patisserie and breads fresh every day.
Open to over 21s only after 9 pm.
His first venture was in 1995 with the Bugle Hotel in Yarmouth, then after a couple of other sites, Martin started the dining transformation of The New Inn at Shalfleet in 1997.
Inns of Distinction now operate sites that focus on accommodation and dining namely The Boathouse at Seaview, The Fishbourne and The Spinnaker in the heart of Bembridge. Martin’s wife Lisa Bullock and long-term colleague Phil Gilbraith constantly strive to deliver new ideas to the Island.
The success hasn’t gone unnoticed, the pubs have received several accolades, awards and have even been featured in the UK Michelin Pub Guide. Their success is attributed to their strong ethos of attention to detail, excellent customer service and offering a unique ambience in all 4 venues.
